Tips on Cleaning Car Interiors

Here are the tips to follow when cleaning the interiors of your car:

Vacuuming

Take out your floor mats and vacuum the seats as well as the carpets. With the proper attachments, you can reach around the pedals, under the seats and even the sections between the central console and the front seats. It will make it easier to seep out dirt stuck in the farthest corners.

You can utilize a soft brush attachment for doors and dashboards. Be extra careful on the vents, sticking parts and knobs. You can also use this same attachment when vacuuming your seats. Since leather seats are fragile, make sure you do not accidentally scratch them with your vacuum hose.

Cleaning Door and Fabric Seat Upholstery

There are numerous kinds of upholstery cleaning agents available in the market. You can decide on what you prefer for your car upholstery. Although there are cleaning agents that make a lot of promises, your best bet is to go with a trusted brand that the majority uses.

Turtle Wax’s spray cleaners are good. You can use it to evenly spray on your door and seat upholstery then rub it vigorously. After this, use a dry cloth to wipe it off thoroughly.

You can also use a laundry detergent for alternatives. Combine it with some water then dip a clean cloth in it. Make sure you squeeze it well but it is still barely moist when you use it. Work harder on the dirty sections. Once you are finished, dry it out using a dry soft and clean cloth.

Make sure you do not get water inside your car because it can get into the electrical components, resulting in problems. Aside from this, if the water gets into your seats or under your carpet, it can lead to stains, corrosion and mould smell.

Cleaning the Carpet

Similar to the method you used on cleaning your upholstery and seats, you can clean your carpets the same way. First, evenly spray your carpet with some carpet cleaner and rub it vigorously. Use a dry cloth when wiping it. Laundry detergents also work well with carpets. Make sure you do not soak your carpet in water; it will lead to corrosion and mould smell. Finally, dry out your carpet.

Cleaning and Polishing the Dashboard

To clean the central console, dashboard and other plastic parts, you can just use a barely moist cloth. Utilize only small amounts of laundry detergent when removing stains. Then dry it with a dry, soft and clean cloth.

You can make it shiny by spraying plastic polish and evenly spreading it with a soft brush. Make sure you do not directly spray on your stereo. You can use a brush to do so.

Afterwards, gently dry polish your dashboard. You can also use a dry, soft and clean cloth. It will make your dashboard shinier and will also protect the plastic. Periodically, you can just use a soft duster, ensuring that your dashboard will look brand new for a very long time.

Getting Rid of the Air Conditioner’s Musty Smell

For unpleasant, musty smells from your air conditioner’s vents when it is turned on, you can just buy odour treatment from your local auto accessories shop. It kills the mildew smell and the bacteria.

Another reason for the damp mildew smell can be a clogged air conditioner, drain tubes or an accumulation of debris under your cowl cover. You can just have your mechanic check on this the next time you have your oil changed.

Celebrate the first day of spring!

Prepare and embrace the first day of spring, which is on Monday 20th March this year, by spending a day out in the great outdoors with the family and friends to celebrate the spring equinox. The spring equinox is the first day of the solar new year and one of two days each year when the centre of the sun passes over the Equator. Many cultures around the World celebrate this day in a variety of ways, so why not join them in your own way say the domestic cleaning professionals at GoldenClea. Sow seeds

Even if you haven’t had your last frost yet, you can still enjoy the prospect of a colourful garden. Encourage the family to start a few seeds indoors that can easily be transferred to the garden when the ground is soft and warm enough. If you believe that the worst of the frost is over, gather the family and decide what you will sow where from vegetables to blooms. Then set about preparing the soil and planting the seeds. It can be immensely fulfilling to spend some time working the earth and even more satisfying when you see the fruits of your labour. If you’re not ready to get your hands dirty, you could start by adding lawn ornaments — solar garden stakes, flags, animal ornaments for example.

Fly a kite

There is something quite magical about flying a kite, both as an adult and a child and best of all, you don’t need a fantastically sunny or warm day to enjoy being outdoors. March can typically be a blustery month, so why not take advantage of the spring breeze and celebrate spring by playing with the wind? So, take a trip to a park or an open space, wrap up warm and blow those cobwebs away! For younger members of the family who may find flying a kite a little complicated, take some bubble mixture to blow bubbles and see how they travel in the wind.

Spring scavenger hunt

Even if it’s still a little on the chilly side, celebrate the first day of spring by wrapping up and entice friends and family, young and old to take part in a scavenger hunt. It’s up to you whether you’d prefer to host it in your garden, the local woods, part and whether to do it by foot or by bike for instance. The idea is to look for signs of spring — flowers, buds, plants, bugs and the first signs of life since the winter months. Taking part in something like a scavenger hunt or geocaching for example, will not only bring you closer as you dedicate time to one another, but will make you appreciate the very simple but very important things in life, such as nature that surrounds us.

Green ways to freshen up your carpets

Carpets tend to be well worn in the winter – they tend to endure wet and often dirty feet and paws traipsing all sorts through the house. This can make carpets smell unpleasant and musty. The professional house cleaning experts at GoldenCleanings suggest that you try some of the below suggestions to freshen up your carpets and give them a new lease of life.

Embrace the iron!

Using an iron carefully can help to remove some persistent stains and here’s how:

1. Ensure your carpets have been vacuumed thoroughly.

2. Dampen any stains with a cloth soaked in a solution made up of one part vinegar and three parts water.

3. Lay the cloth over the stain and carefully use the iron to iron the towel. The stain should begin to lift into the towel.

Irons can also be particularly useful in removing candle wax from carpets by simply placing some greaseproof paper or a piece from a brown paper bag over the affected area. Then warm up the iron enough to melt the wax and iron the area for 1-2 minutes. You should see the max melt into the paper.

Bicarbonate of soda carpet freshener!

Combat those smelly carpet odours by adding about 10-20 drops of any essential oil (such as lavender, lemon, rosemary or orange) with about a tub of bicarbonate of soda. Mix it up well so the oils are completely absorbed and then decant into a glass container. Then, simply shake your new carpet freshener on your carpet and wait for 5 minutes and then run the hoover over it. Another great green way of carpet cleaning!

Powerful deep carpet cleaner

If you’re after a deeper clean of your carpets to properly sanitise them and eliminate dust mites for example you are going to have to hire a carpet cleaning machine. You can make up your own green cleaning solution. Mix the following ingredients together to make a deep cleaning solution, but remember to wear gloves and mix the solution over a sink in case of spillages: 175ml of Hydrogen Peroxide, 60ml cup white vinegar, 2 tablespoons washing up liquid, 5 drops of essential oils, 2 tablespoons of clothes softener and 3.75l of hot (not boiling) water. Remember to do a patch test on an inconspicuous area of your carpet and allow to dry before embarking on all your carpet

Fluff it up

Does your carpet look like it’s been flattened by a heard of elephants? A simple way to re-fluff it is by spraying any stained areas with an equal solution of white wine vinegar and water. Then allow the solution to work in and blot the stain. Then using a spoon on its side, fluff the carpet up by spraying any hardened, stained areas with a carpet stain remover of equal parts vinegar and water. Allow the agent to work, and then blot up the stain. Then using the side of a spoon, run a spoon along the carpeting to fluff up the fibres and encourage them to stand straight again.
